A man lies in a hospital in serious condition after a driver opened fire on a crowd outside a Halloween party in Dallas. The shooting occurred in the Red Bird neighborhood late Saturday night.
Dallas Police Department officers arrived at 100 West Laureland Road at 11:51 p.m. on Saturday. The address sits near the South R.L. Thornton Freeway southbound service road. Responding units found a large and hostile crowd when they reached the scene. Officers worked to secure the area before locating the victim. The adult male suffered multiple gunshot wounds. As members of one group departed in a vehicle, a person inside the car fired into the crowd. The bullets struck the victim multiple times. Early in the investigation, detectives stated it is unclear if the victim was the intended target or a bystander caught in crossfire. The suspect’s vehicle fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
Police continue to investigate the shooting. The case is currently under review by detectives. Authorities have not released the name of the victim or the specific hospital. The suspect's vehicle remains unidentified. The scene was cleared after officers secured the area. No other injuries were reported.
