Rockwall-Heath football players will meet their crosstown rivals, the Rockwall Yellowjackets, in a matchup that carries extra weight for both squads.

The Hawks have already locked in a playoff berth for Class 6A Division 1. They enter the contest with a specific approach to handling pressure. Head coach Casey Dick stated that the team must bring energy in every game, regardless of the time of day. He noted that this intensity is the factor that will secure wins for the group.

Linebacker Carson Adams emphasized that the squad plays with the same effort whether the clock is early or late. He described this consistency as a necessity that will eventually decide the outcome of games. Quarterback Prosper Neal added that the group supports one another on the field while remaining close friends off it.

The connection among the players stems from a long history. Adams said the bond is unbreakable because the players have competed together since second or third grade. This shared background keeps the team strong throughout the season. Dick called the group rare in high school football because of how connected they remain. He said the players have been through a lot and that very little fazes them now.

The team has shown resilience after every loss this season by responding with a large victory. Neal explained that the group stays together and avoids arguing when adversity strikes. This unity is a key part of their preparation for the postseason. Dick said the players are ready to walk through any fire as they approach the next round.

Despite the hype surrounding the rivalry, the Hawks are treating the opponent like any other team on the schedule. Dick instructed the players to have emotion but not so much that it interferes with their function. Adams said he looks forward to this game every year because he has been playing against these opponents since he was five or six years old.

The team circles this date on the calendar at the start of the year. The players view the contest as a major event they anticipate annually. They will bring the same energy and bond to the field as they have shown all season.
