Ines Gomez Mont, the Mexican television host, was arrested in Florida on October 30, 2026, after years of evading justice. Journalist Alberto Tavira stated on the social media platform X that Gomez Mont’s relatives and close friends knew she was living in Miami prior to her detention.

Tavira attributed this information to high-level sources. He referenced a column he published on the El Independiente website in April 2025. In that piece, he described seeing Gomez Mont and her husband, Victor Manuel Alvarez Puga, in public places around Miami.

According to Tavira’s earlier report, witnesses stated that the couple and their seven children were established in the city. One witness compared their residence to the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood in Mexico City, a known affluent area. Tavira noted that witnesses possessed photos and videos to support these claims.

The journalist also detailed the vehicles driven by the couple in his April 2025 column. He wrote that Alvarez Puga drove a white Porsche and that Gomez Mont drove a Bentley. Both are luxury car brands associated with high cost.

Before her recent arrest, Gomez Mont and Alvarez Puga were fugitives from Mexican authorities. Their official location was unknown to the public. Alvarez Puga was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in October 2025 in Florida. His name subsequently disappeared from the records of the detention center where he was held, and his current status remains unclear.

N+ Univision reported that Gomez Mont is currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According to El Universal, she is being held at the Broward Transitional Center. This immigration detention facility is located in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Gomez Mont faces charges in Mexico dating back to 2021. The accusations include a scheme to divert public funds, contract simulation, the use of invoicing companies, and money laundering. Her husband is also linked to these alleged crimes.
