Paxton drops Alamo stop from Election Day eve schedule
The Texas Senate race candidate will campaign in Conroe and Allen instead of San Antonio on Nov. 2, ending his 'Come and Take It' tour elsewhere.

Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton will not hold an event at the Alamo on the evening of Nov. 2, as originally planned. The campaign’s Monday schedule now lists stops in Conroe and Allen, both located in North Texas.
Paxton’s campaign announced a two-week bus tour last month called 'Come and Take It.' The tour was slated to end at the San Antonio landmark on Election Day eve. The Alamo is a World Heritage Site and museum where political activities are prohibited, according to its website.
The change in logistics makes sense given the distance. Conroe and Allen are hundreds of miles from San Antonio. Paxton’s Allen event is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT. That start time would not allow him to travel to San Antonio for an evening appearance.
The campaign had not publicly commented on the switch. They also did not respond to requests for comment from KTVT. Paxton is running against Democrat James Talarico for the Senate seat. Texas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988, though recent polls show Talarico with a slight lead. CBS News ranks the race as a toss-up.
President Donald Trump, who endorsed Paxton in the primary, has been active in the state. He held a rally in San Antonio in early October. Trump also held events in Corpus Christi and Lubbock last week.
