Maryland Governor Wes Moore is pressing newly elected Democrats in Congress to act immediately on key economic issues. Speaking on the Quicksilva Morning Show on 92Q, Moore urged his party colleagues to move fast after the 2026 midterm elections. He specifically requested that lawmakers address tariffs and reduce federal spending on overseas conflicts.
Moore, who recently secured a historic reelection victory, emphasized the urgency of legislative work. “In the first hundred hours, I need y’al to move,” he said. He cited the need for greater accountability in Washington as a primary goal for the incoming group of officials. The governor also highlighted strong Democratic performances in Maryland, including wins for Vanessa Atterbeary in Howard County and Julian Jones in Baltimore County.
The interview covered Moore’s second-term priorities for the state. He reaffirmed his commitment to making Maryland more affordable for residents. “We want to make Maryland more affordable, we want to bring down the cost of living, we want to make sure we’re growing our economy,” Moore stated. He noted that his campaign launched without a prior political background or established connections, a fact he found humbling in retrospect.
Moore also addressed the rising number of Black governors serving the country. He stressed the value of leadership that mirrors the demographics of the communities it serves. The discussion concluded with Moore confirming his attendance at the Baltimore Ravens game at M&T Bank Stadium on Thursday night.
