DALLAS, Texas. Early voting concludes at the end of the day on Friday, and turnout across the state has already exceeded the totals from the 2022 midterm cycle. By the end of the eleventh day of voting, 5.9 million people had cast ballots in person. This figure represents 31.5% of the 19 million registered voters in Texas.

In 2022, 5.1 million people voted in person during the entire early voting period, accounting for 29% of registered voters. The current surge is visible in North Texas counties, where in-person numbers have climbed well above the 2022 benchmarks. Dallas County recorded 534,404 in-person votes after 11 days. That total stands in contrast to the 391,328 early votes cast in the county during the 2022 election.

Tarrant County reported 509,294 in-person votes in the same 11-day window. In 2022, the county recorded a total of 389,285 early votes. Collin County saw 329,412 people vote in person, compared to 253,746 total early votes in 2022. Denton County also showed a sharp increase, with 282,986 in-person votes recorded this year against 219,010 in the previous midterm.

Voters can verify their registration status and locate their polling places using the Am I Registered portal on the Secretary of State’s website. County election pages also list sample ballots and other resources for residents. Candidates are currently holding final campaign events to encourage remaining voters to participate before the deadline.

Gov. Greg Abbott is holding get-out-the-vote events in Amarillo, Lubbock, and Laredo. Republican candidate Ken Paxton is scheduled to speak at a campaign event at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time. Democrat James Talarico is hosting a rally at Texas A&M University at 7 p.m. The Democratic party aims to break a 30-year streak without a statewide win, as no Texas Democrat has secured a statewide office since 1994.
