A former McKinney North High School athletic trainer will serve five years in prison after a Collin County jury sentenced her in October. Lindsey Post, 35, pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and student. The jury also ordered her to register as a sex offender for life.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said Post used her job to groom and assault a student she was treating. "Adults who abuse the trust placed in them by students will be held accountable," Willis said. The sentencing followed a guilty plea entered on October 16. Post was arrested by McKinney Police in January 2026.

The abuse took place between November 2025 and January 2026, according to a lawsuit filed by the victim's parents. The girl was 14 at the time. An arrest affidavit states that the victim's father discovered the abuse after finding sexually explicit messages on her phone. The document notes that the girl made multiple outcries about sexual activity that occurred inside Post's vehicle in a neighborhood.

Post violated bond conditions while out of jail. She had a phone conversation with the victim despite restrictions. The lawsuit against McKinney ISD alleges the district failed the victim by creating conditions that allowed her to be alone with Post. The filing claims the district did not provide a bus to a school event on the day of the first documented assault.

Post worked as an athletic trainer at McKinney North High School. The case is being handled by the Collin County District Attorney's Office. The victim's parents filed the civil suit separately from the criminal case. Post remains in custody pending the start of her sentence.

The jury delivered its sentence this week. The plea agreement covered two counts. The sex offender registration requirement is permanent. Willis emphasized that the outcome reflects the trust students place in school staff.

Post will begin serving her five-year term in a state facility. The bond violation added to the criminal record. The lawsuit against the school district remains active in civil court.
