Drivers in West Haven, Connecticut, are currently paying less for regular gasoline than the average motorist in the rest of the state. The local price gap is small, but it places West Haven stations below the statewide benchmark while remaining slightly above national figures.

AAA reported that the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Connecticut stood at $4.24 on Tuesday. This figure represents a decrease of about 5 cents from the previous week, when the average was $4.29. Over the last month, prices have dropped by roughly 22 cents from a high of $4.46. Despite these recent declines, Connecticut drivers are paying about $1.20 more per gallon compared to the state average of $3.04 recorded a year ago.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides additional context for these numbers. The latest weekly data, released on November 3 and reflecting prices as of November 2, shows the national average for regular gasoline at $4.15 per gallon. This national figure is about 9 cents lower than the Connecticut average. The EIA does not track Connecticut prices separately but includes them in its New England regional data. The New England average was $4.15 per gallon, down about 5 cents from the prior week. The national average itself fell by approximately 12 cents from the previous week's $4.27.

In West Haven specifically, five stations provided current price reports for regular gasoline. The average across these five locations was $4.18 per gallon. This local average is about 6 cents below the AAA Connecticut average and roughly 3 cents higher than both the EIA New England average and the national average. Thirteen other stations in West Haven did not have current price reports available at the time of data collection.

The five stations with available data reported the following prices. CITGO on 540 Derby Avenue listed gas at $4.09 per gallon. 7-Eleven on 480 Saw Mill Road charged $4.15. Valero on 528 Main Street had a price of $4.17. Shell at 5 Jones Hill Road reported $4.19, while the Shell location on 261 Platt Avenue was the highest at $4.29 per gallon.

Gas prices in the area can shift multiple times per week and vary between neighboring stations. The figures listed represent the most recent reports available when the data was compiled. The differences between local, state, and national averages reflect these ongoing fluctuations in the energy market.
