Residents of Dallas County are now watching a high-profile criminal case unfold in a local courtroom. The trial for Markies Conway, the rapper known as Yella Beezy, started on Tuesday. Conway faces a capital murder charge related to the death of rapper Lil' Keke, whose real name is Noble. Noble died on November 11, 2020, after being shot by a suspect who chased him on foot on I-35E.

The court documents allege that Conway hired Kewon White to carry out the killing in exchange for a promised cash payment. White has already been found guilty and sentenced to life without parole. Conway has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The presiding judge estimated that the trial will last between two and three weeks.

Jury selection took place on Monday and lasted for more than eight hours. Attorneys from both sides screened potential jurors, reviewing their backgrounds and biases. Several people were removed from the jury pool during this process. A few were dismissed because their criminal histories included charges for weapons. One potential juror was removed after stating that he did not think his conscience could handle the case.

Conway rose to fame with his 2018 hit single "Errybody." He previously opened for major artists including Jay-Z and Beyoncé. His legal troubles extend beyond the current murder trial. In 2018, Conway was involved in an incident in Lewisville.

In 2021, Conway was arrested in Collin County on three charges. These included sexual assault, abandonment of an endangered child, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The case against him for the death of Noble is now moving forward with a selected jury in place.
