Early voting opens in Dallas County on Saturday, Oct. 24, ahead of the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The county will hold elections for Texas governor, a U.S. Senate seat, and other state and local offices. Voters can cast ballots in person at designated polling centers, by mail, or by dropping off mail-in ballots at official collection boxes.

Statewide, more than 4.3 million Texas residents have already cast early votes for the Nov. 3 election. Dallas, Harris, and Tarrant counties lead the list for the highest number of early ballots cast, according to state election data. Early voting continues through Monday, Nov. 2, with Election Day on Nov. 3.

The Texas Senate race pits Republican incumbent Ken Paxton, the state’s attorney general since 2015, against Democrat James Talarico, a state representative and former teacher. Paxton has campaigned on issues including immigration enforcement, abortion litigation, and election law. Talarico has focused his campaign on public education, reducing the cost of living, and addressing corruption in Washington, D.C.

The governor’s race features incumbent Republican Greg Abbott seeking a fourth term against Democrat Gina Hinojosa, a state representative and attorney. Abbott’s campaign emphasizes border security, property tax relief, and parental control over public school curricula. Hinojosa’s agenda centers on public schools, the family economy, and anti-corruption measures.

A new N+ Univision/YouGov poll indicates strong Democratic performance among Latino voters in the 2026 cycle. The survey identifies the enforcement of federal immigration laws as a key dividing line within the Latino coalition that supported Donald Trump in 2024. Trump is expected to mobilize the Republican base in races where control of Congress and key state offices are at stake.

In a related campaign event, Hinojosa, Talarico, and state representative Bobby Pulido spoke at a Latino-focused rally in Weslaco, Texas, on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Los Tigres del Norte performed at the event. Organizers described the gathering as a mobilization effort, stating, “Es una movilización para dejar claro que el 3 de noviembre los latinos responderán: con fuerza, con orgullo y en las urnas.”

The Federal Election Commission or relevant federal authorities have stated that if state and county officials do not follow federal instructions, the government “no tendrá más remedio que solicitar medidas de urgencia,” or will have no choice but to request emergency measures. This guidance has drawn attention to compliance efforts in counties with large Latino voting populations.

In Dallas County, some voters at Bexar County polling sites reported long lines and wait times, particularly on the first day of early voting, Monday. The Metro transit system will offer free rides on METRORail, METROLift, curb2curb services, Community Connector routes, and local bus lines to and from voting centers on Election Day, Nov. 3.
