Osceola County deputies placed Irene Miller in handcuffs at Orlando International Airport on Friday morning. The 50-year-old mother was booked into the Orange County Jail on four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Body camera footage captured officers approaching Miller as she exited her flight, guiding her through the terminal, and securing her with restraints.

The arrest followed an investigation launched after deputies found Miller's four children alone in their Kissimmee residence on Oct. 21. The children were ages 9, 11, 12, and 14. A 911 call from one of the children reported that a dumbbell had fallen on the head of the 9-year-old boy. Fire rescue crews transported him to Celebration Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged. No adults were present in the home when officers arrived shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Miller had departed Florida for a work trip to Las Vegas on Oct. 18. When reached by phone by a deputy, she stated she planned to return on Oct. 23. She told investigators she had hired a babysitter from Tampa to assist the children with school mornings and check on them during the day. The sitter was not required to stay overnight, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities contacted the children's father, who agreed to take the four children to his home. Detectives then arranged to meet Miller upon her arrival. Sheriff Chris Blackmon said the department will not tolerate child neglect. He stated that cases will be investigated and charges will be brought against parents who are not properly supervising or caring for their children.

Miller faces four separate counts related to the period her children were left without overnight supervision. The sheriff's office confirmed the booking details and the specific ages of the children involved in the incident.
