Texas residents looking for work have a favorable outlook according to a new 2026 study. WalletHub ranked the state eighth among all 50 U.S. states for the best places to find a job. This ranking reflects an analysis of labor market strength and economic conditions across the nation.

The study evaluated 50 states using 34 key indicators. These metrics included job growth, average annual earnings, and average commute times. WalletHub also examined more than 180 U.S. cities using 31 specific factors. City-level data considered the number of job openings per candidate, employment growth, and average starting salaries.

Several Texas cities appeared on the list of top-ranked locations. The analysis did not limit its scope to vacancy counts or unemployment rates alone. Chip Lupo, a WalletHub analyst, noted that secondary factors influence the final ranking. He pointed to the ease of commuting and the quality of family life and recreational activities outside of work hours as important considerations.

The report provides a detailed look at where employment conditions are strongest. It serves as a resource for individuals considering job moves within or outside the state. The data is drawn from a comprehensive review of national labor trends for the 2026 period.
