The Powerball lottery held its draw on Wednesday, October 28, with the top prize standing at $716 million. Players who matched all six winning numbers could choose to take the prize as a lump sum cash payment of $307.2 million. The winning combination for this specific draw was 13, 16, 60, 11, and 47, with a red Powerball of 2 and a Powerplay multiplier of 2.
The current jackpot has grown following the last major payout of the year. On August 12, 2026, a ticket purchased in Illinois won the previous record-breaking jackpot of $1,040 million. Before that, the lottery saw a split victory on May 2, when two players, one from Florida and one from Texas, shared a $20 million prize. Earlier in the year, on April 29, two winners from Indiana and Kansas divided a $143.4 million jackpot. A single player in Delaware claimed $230.8 million on April 6, and a winner in Arkansas took home $250.8 million on March 2.
To win the top prize, players must select five white balls from a pool of 1 through 59 and one red Powerball from a pool of 1 through 26. The lottery offers nine different ways to win a prize, but the grand prize requires matching all five white balls in any order along with the red Powerball. Participants can choose their own numbers or allow the machine to generate a random selection. A standard ticket costs $2 per play.
Winners of the top prize have two payment options. They can receive the full amount as an annuity, distributed in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or they can opt for a single cash payment. The advertised figures for both options are subject to federal and local tax deductions.
Players may add an optional Powerplay feature to their tickets. This add-on multiplies non-jackpot prizes by a factor of two, three, five, or ten. In Idaho and Montana, the Powerplay is included in the ticket price, raising the minimum cost per play to $3.
The next drawing is scheduled to follow the standard Powerball schedule. The lottery continues to accept ticket sales for upcoming draws until the cutoff time for the next event.
