Two teenagers were arrested in Johnson County on Monday after a pursuit ended with a stolen car in a field.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies initiated the chase on October 27. The vehicle involved was reported as stolen, according to the department. During the high-speed movement, the driver lost control. The car left the roadway and crashed into a nearby field.
Both occupants exited the vehicle and ran on foot from the scene. Deputies located and apprehended the two individuals later that same day. Because both suspects are under 18, the sheriff's office has not released their names to the public.
The department has not specified the exact charges against the teens. Officials also did not detail how the vehicle was originally stolen or the specific circumstances that triggered the pursuit.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office issued a statement thanking outside law enforcement agencies for their help. "The cooperation, coordination, and support provided by our law enforcement partners played an important role in bringing the search to a conclusion," the department said. Multiple agencies assisted in the search for the fleeing suspects.
The incident is the latest traffic stop in the rural county that resulted in a vehicle leaving the road. The sheriff's office continues to process the case, with the two teens in custody as of Tuesday.
