A former state employee filed a federal lawsuit against Texas Governor Mike Causey, alleging he kissed her without consent and sexually harassed her. The suit names the governor and the state Department of Administrative Services as defendants.

The plaintiff, Teller, says she tried to get the governor's office to investigate her accusations. According to court documents, she claims the office showed little interest in the specific incidents she reported. Her complaint states, 'The plaintiff was ignored and received incorrect conclusions.'

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reviewed the case before Teller filed suit. A letter from the EEOC dated August 5, 2026, says the agency would not proceed with its own investigation. The letter notes, 'maintaining whether further investigation would establish violations of the statute.' The EEOC added that this decision does not mean the claims have no merit.

The EEOC determined that Teller had the right to sue the department and the governor within 90 days of receiving the letter. That window closed on November 3, 2026. The lawsuit seeks to establish that the state failed to address the reported harassment.

Teller also alleges the governor used a state vehicle for personal driving. She says this occurred while the state office was supposed to be monitoring his campaign activities on state time.
