Ponder volleyball moved into the regional semifinals for the fourth year in a row after defeating Hillsboro 3-0 on Monday night. The match took place at North Crowley High School in the 4A Division II area round.
The Lady Lions, who have a record of 25-22, closed the contest with a 25-17 win in the final set. The victory extends a recent run of deep playoff appearances for the program.
Ponder first reached a regional final in 2023. The team advanced to the state semifinals in 2024 and returned to the penultimate round of the playoffs last year. With this win, the team secured a spot in the regional semifinals for the fourth time in five years.
The Lady Lions will play in the regional semifinals later this week. Their opponent will be determined by the outcome of a match between Farmersville and Longview Spring Hill on Tuesday.
Farmersville holds a 33-11 record, while Longview Spring Hill is 26-17. The specific time and location for Ponder's next match have not yet been announced.
The result keeps Ponder's season alive in the postseason. The team now focuses on preparing for its next opponent in the regional bracket.
