Orphan Barrel launched Latverian Cask on Nov. 1, a 20-year-old American Light Whiskey created for the upcoming Marvel Studios film Avengers: Doomsday. The brand set the suggested retail price at $200 per bottle. Customers can buy the spirit at select retailers nationwide, online at TheBar.com, and at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky.

The release marks the first time Orphan Barrel has bottled an American Light Whiskey. The spirit originated from a predominantly corn mashbill distilled in Indiana. It matured for a minimum of 20 years, primarily in Kentucky, with additional aging in Indiana. The barrels were previously used for bourbon and rye, or had held other American Whiskies. The uncharred oak preserved the soft profile typical of the Light Whiskey category while adding depth over the decades.

Andrew Mackay, Master Blender for US Whiskey at Diageo, said the team found the liquid finite and unexpected. He noted that the whiskey retained its softer profile despite two decades of aging. Mackay emphasized that once this specific batch is gone, it cannot be recreated. The brand describes the flavor profile as mellow, with aromas of caramel and sweet vanilla. Tasters will find honey, butterscotch, orange peel, and oak on the palate, finishing with creamy vanilla and dried fruit. Orphan Barrel recommends drinking the 46% ABV spirit neat or with a single small ice cube.

The bottle design includes original artwork by Marvel artist Rod Reis. The illustration draws from the fictional nation of Latveria and the character Doctor Doom. Reis said he wanted the image to work as a whole while rewarding close inspection with hidden details. He stated, “I wanted everything to work together as one image at first, but then reward people who spend some time looking at it and start noticing those smaller references.” One in six bottles features a holographic label treatment, making those versions rarer than the standard release.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 18. The whiskey release aligns with the holiday shopping season. Because the batch is strictly limited and will not be produced again, availability is finite. Collectors and fans of the film are encouraged to purchase the bottle before the supply runs out.
