Dinosaur Jr. performed a 17-song set at the Granada Theater on Monday night, capping a tour stop in Dallas.

Fans entered the Lower Greenville venue around 7 p.m., photographing the stage, ceiling, and walls. Many attendees sought to capture images of the landmark before it changes ownership next year. Screens flanking the stage displayed a slideshow of past performances during the show.

Stef Chura opened the night at 8 p.m. with a 35-minute set. She is from Detroit and noted that her band had not played in Dallas since 2019. Chura performed "The Concrete," a track from her new album "Dancing Alone on the Concrete." Her style drew comparisons to the mid-1980s college radio era that influenced Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur Jr. took the stage around 9 p.m., starting with "Severed Lips" from their 1985 debut album. The performance began loosely before shifting into a high-distortion sound. Bassist Lou Barlow discussed his yellow guitar pick, which he has used for five years. He told the crowd they would play another song from the first record before standing behind their amps for the encore.

The crowd included longtime fans and younger attendees who moshed near the front. There was no barrier between the band and the audience. Security stood only at the sides of the stage. Drummer Murph provided steady rhythm while Barlow performed active bass solos. J Mascis remained relatively stationary on stage, wearing a trucker hat, colorful glasses, and Adidas track pants. A crew member replaced cardboard lyric sheets at Mascis' feet throughout the set.

"Feel the Pain" was the 11th song of the night. Mascis sang the lyrics, "I feel the pain of everyone, then I feel nothing." A fan near the stage shouted for 10 more songs. Barlow responded by saying the crowd was getting four or six more songs.

The encore began with "Start Choppin'" from the 1993 album "Where You Been." The band followed that with a cover of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven." Before the final exit, Barlow addressed the venue's impending change. "I'm so sorry this place is going to go away. I love this place. I've had a great time here," he said.

Dinosaur Jr. completes its tour in Houston on Wednesday, Austin on Thursday, and San Antonio on Friday. The Granada Theater remains open as it prepares for its ownership change next year.
