Josh Gruberman has converted his Coyote Ridge home in Carrollton into a free, biohazard-themed haunted attraction called Zombie Labs. The event features a 15-foot animatronic figure, various characters, and a repurposed subway car.

Gruberman began the project as a personal hobby that has expanded into a neighborhood staple. He does not charge an admission fee, aiming to provide free entertainment for local residents during Halloween.

Visitors first encounter a towering animatronic outside the property. They then move to the driveway to enter a genuine subway car, which serves as the main entry point to the experience.

The attraction extends into the garage, where Gruberman has constructed a haunted environment centered on a biohazard theme. This section includes specific characters and a narrative plot for guests to follow.

"It was kind of just a last-minute decision. We just wanted to do something with zombies, and the biohazard just felt like it fit," Gruberman said regarding the theme choice.

One featured character is Doctor Illume, a figure described by Gruberman as part of a laboratory that has exploded and is now collapsing. Gruberman noted that while the subway car was difficult to source, they secured a favorable price for it.

Gruberman said the growing tradition has helped him connect with neighbors he previously did not know. A street closure is scheduled for near his home this weekend to facilitate easier access for families and trick-or-treaters.
