A good barbecue is worth the drive, but for Allen residents, one North Texas barbecue favorite is finally getting a little closer to home. After making its way through Pilot Point and Plano, Yearby's Barbecue & Waterice has found its next stop in Allen, bringing together two food traditions that don't often share the same menu: Texas-style smoked barbecue and Philadelphia-style water ice.

The restaurant has begun its soft opening at 405 Central Expressway S., giving local diners their first opportunity to experience the concept in its new home.

According to an announcement shared on the restaurant's official Facebook page, additional soft-opening dates are scheduled for Oct. 30, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, with service from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 8 p.m.

A Different Take On Texas Barbecue: Yearby's puts its own spin on a Texas favorite by specializing in halal barbecue, offering an option for diners who follow halal dietary requirements while staying rooted in the state's smoked-meat traditions.

But barbecue is only part of the story. The restaurant also serves Philadelphia-style water ice, a frozen treat with roots in the Northeast. Unlike traditional ice cream, water ice is made without dairy, offering a lighter, refreshing option alongside the restaurant's savory dishes.

The business previously served customers in Pilot Point and Plano before announcing its move to Allen.

Its arrival adds another option to the city's barbecue scene, where other pitmasters have been building their own empires.

A New Chapter In Allen: For Yearby's, the Allen location represents another chapter after operating in different parts of North Texas, giving customers a new place to find its combination of barbecue and water ice.

The restaurant is continuing its soft opening rather than operating on a confirmed regular schedule. An official grand opening date and permanent business hours have not yet been announced.

Customers can visit Yearby's Barbecue & Waterice at 405 Central Expressway S. during its announced soft-opening hours, with updates available through the restaurant's official social media pages.
